Pursuing Ph.D. in Food Science & Technology - Major Professor:Dr. Robert Shewfelt

Personal and Professional Background

Amy Rowley is currently a Food Science Ph.D. student under the direction of Robert Shewfelt. Amy received a B.S. degree in chemistry in May 2001 from Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Florida and a M.S. degree in Food Science in August 2003 from the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia.

As both an undergraduate and graduate student, Amy has participated in a number of science partnership programs with local elementary schools, whereby college students visited the elementary schools throughout the semester engaging the students in hands-on science learning. One such project is detailed in an issue of My Big Back Yard. In addition, Amy served as a teaching assistant in undergraduate level chemistry and undergraduate and graduate level food science laboratory courses.

Upon completion of her Ph.D. studies, Amy hopes to enter into academia and/or science curriculum development.
