Pursuing Ph.D. in Ruminant Nutrition - Major Professor:Dr. Joe West

Personal and Professional Background

I was born and raised in Baton Rouge, LA. I received my B.S. in Animal, Dairy, and Poultry Science as well as my M.S. in Forage Agronomy from LSU. I am currently at the end of the second year of my Ph.D. studies. I have had teaching experience during both my masterĂ¢s and doctoral studies.

the Department of Agronomy at LSU, I taught introductory soil science laboratory classes, as well as laboratory classes in forage management. While here at UGA, I have had the opportunity to work as a teaching assistant in various classes including Feeds and Feeding and Horse Production.

I have also had the opportunity to teach an animal nutrition class as an instructor. The experience I hope to gain from working on this grant is to better understand some of the needs in the secondary science classroom and to address those needs by implementing practical agricultural applications to further explain the concepts currently included in the curriculum. In doing this, the students will better grasp concepts that might previously have been unclear and will also gain a better understanding of the science involved in agriculture.
