Pursuing Ph.D. in Toxicology - Major Professor:Dr. Jeff Fisher

Personal and Professional Background

Eva earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Health from the University of Georgia in May 2003. As an undergraduate student, she participated in many student activities and held leadership roles in clubs such as the Environmental Health Science Club and Epsilon Nu Eta, the Environmental Health Science Honor Society. In addition she joined many professional societies, marched with the Redcoat Marching Band for three years and held a part time job at the Environmental Protection Division. During fall semester of her senior year she was chosen to participate in Project F.O.C.U.S., Fostering Our Communityâs Understanding of Science. Participation in this special project provided her with the opportunity to develop and facilitate hands-on science experiments in a fourth grade classroom.

In fall 2003, Eva began work on a doctoral degree in toxicology under the direction of Dr. Jeffrey Fisher. By participating as an NSF fellow, Eva hopes to help high school students and teachers master difficult scientific concepts while strengthening her communication skills. As a long-term goal, Eva would like to work in the field of toxicological risk communication. With a strong science, communication, and teaching background, she strives to be able to creatively and effectively communicate various health risks to the general public.
