Personal and Professional Background
I graduated from Washington County High School, Sandersville Ga., in 1968. I graduated from the University of Georgia in 1972 with a degree in Zoology. I entered the U. S. Navy and graduated from Officer Candidate School and the Navy Supply Corps School in 1973. I was readmitted to UGA in 1976 to work on a MED in science education. I was working at Southern Piedmont Conservation Research Center in Watkinsville, and eventually changed my major and worked on a MS degree in Agronomy in soil microbiology. Before I finished my degree, I went to work as a fertilizer salesman. After a year in sales, I took a job teaching science at Oglethorpe County High School where I have been for the last 22 years. I finished my MED in science education and am now working on an EDS in science education.
With my dual background in science education and agriculture, I already include many agricultural related topics in my science classes, but I hope to be able to incorporate even more.
