Personal and Professional Background

am a biology and botany teacher at Madison County High School in Danielsville where I am beginning my 12th year of teaching. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in education from the University of North Florida. In addition to biology and botany, I have also taught ecology, physical science, remedial science, and study skills. I very much enjoy my job . . . . still!

I am married and have two sons. We live outside of Comer in Madison County where we have cows, donkeys, a few chickens, dogs, and cats. My hobbies include playing the fiddle (still in the beginning stages) and jogging.

am very pleased to be included in Science Behind Our Food. For me, one of the biggest obstacles to quality and meaningful labs is a lack of funds for our science department which leads to a lack of equipment. I know that Madison County High School students will benefit from equipment provided by this program. Also, it is impossible to be an expert in all areas of biology. The level of expertise the participating fellows will bring to the classroom will certainly exceed my knowledge for specific topics.
